The Gower Peninsula was the first place in the UK to be designated an area of outstanding natural beauty. The picturesque countryside is lined with many beautiful sandy beaches and secluded coves.
The Blue Flag award winning Bracelet Bay is some 5 minutes walk from the bungalow, here you will find, not only superb views and safe, patrolled bathing, but also an ice cream parlour, coffee shop and a restaurant specialising in Italian dishes and pizza.
Passing the Mumbles lighthouse
and about to be restored pier, the Victorian village of Mumbles, the centre called Oystermouth, for its history as an oyster fishing port, is a further 15 minute walk along the promenade, where many individual specialist shops, art galleries, pubs and restaurants, can be found close to the castle ruins
towering over one of the main streets.
Sadly, all the major banks disappeared, however, the village now benefits from three supermarkets (M&S (food), Tesco Express, Co-oP), and the Post Office. Swansea, Wales’ city by the sea, is 5 miles on, positioned on the spectacular sweep of Swansea Bay,
a premier coastal destination in the UK. Local buses run regularly to the compact and easily accessible city centre, which has many attractions for the visitor, including The Glynn Vivian art gallery, Marina, Maritime Quarter, National Waterfront Museum, the Grand Theatre , Plantasia and the leisure centre LC2. The largest traditional covered market in Wales, independent shops, together with “High Street “departments and the indoor Quadrant stores, offer plenty of shopping opportunities.
Walkers, photographers and bird watchers will enjoy the cliff footpath, that runs from Limeslade, to Langland Bay (2 miles)
and then onwards to Caswell Bay (3 miles). Further on, with breath taking views and beautiful scenery, is Three Cliffs,
Oxwich, Port Eynon, Worms Head and Rhosilli.
Water sports are catered for in a big way, with surfing and paddle boarding schools, kayaking, sailing, fishing, scuba diving, along with land based activities such as pony trekking, horse riding, rambling and nature related pastimes, all of which are easily accessible to the visitors.
